About Bethlehem Star Pre & Primary School
Bethlehem Star Pre and Primary School is one the prominent and leading primary schools in Usa River (Arumeru District) for pupils aged 2-13 years. Our school is located in Usa – River close to Muungano Secondary school, a 30-minutes’ drive from Arusha City. It caters for Usa River township and neighboring villages; we also operate a daily door-to-door minibus service for those who live in Arusha.
The idea of establishing Bethlehem Star Pre and Primary School took shape in 2013. The driving force behind this initiative was the late Mrs. Janeth Adam Nyoni, who passed away in September 2020. Her vision was to provide a pathway to better education, particularly for marginalized, orphaned, disabled, and poor boys and girls residing in Usa-River and the nearby villages. Her aim was to make quality education accessible at affordable rates to these underserved communities.
The school is not biased in terms of gender, ethnicity, race, or religion and is targeted to sponsor at least 10% of its pupils and find more sponsorship from other organizations, individuals and Private Companies to the disabled, marginalized and less privileged children. The school was originally established on 5th September 2013 as a Day care center with 1 child. It continued growing each year; it introduced Preschool, Primary education and was later registered on 20/02/2017 by the registration number EM. 17281. Today Bethlehem Star Pre & Primary school has 303 pupils from Usa-river and neighboring villages. The school has employed 16 teachers and 17 other staff; it is sponsoring 10 students from less privileged around Usa-River and neighboring villages, this number is far less from the target of 10% of the total number of the enrolled students which is 30.
Bethlehem Star Pre & Primary school is a Day and Boarding School which complements the Government effort by striving to build a strong education foundation with reliable financial support which will enable it to have a longer-term impact. It is also in line with the UN sustainable goal focusing on quality education which is a crucial goal in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. It underpins progress in many other areas, including poverty reduction, health, gender equality, economic growth, and environmental sustainability.
Bethlehem Star vision is “In Pursuit of academic excellence” One core value focusing to move towards that vision is we don’t allow any academic cheating.
